Winifred Nicholson

Interested in painting from an early age, Winifred Nicholson (1893–1981) painted prolifically throughout her life, generally in a representational style, though she experimented with abstraction in the 1930s. She became renowned for her use of colour. Her work is held in Kettle's Yard Art Gallery and the Tate Gallery as well as in private collections.
