Allen William Seaby

Allen Seaby (1867–1953) was a British painter, illustrator, writer, and master of the colour woodcut. Born in London, he studied at Reading University’s School of Art, later becoming Professor of Fine Art from 1920 to 1933. Renowned for his prints of birds, animals, and landscapes, he combined artistic precision with natural observation. Seaby also authored influential books on art and printmaking, and his work is held in major public collections, including the National Galleries of Scotland.
