Tirzah Garwood

Eileen 'Tirzah' Garwood (1908–1951) was a British artist and wood engraver. She studied at Eastbourne School of Art, where she was taught by Eric Ravilious, whom she married in 1930. The couple lived in Essex among the Great Bardfield artists, including Edward and Charlotte Bawden. Garwood created distinctive patterned and marbled papers, now held in the British Museum and the V&A, and later turned to oil painting, exhibiting regularly until her death in 1951.
