Samuel John Peploe

Samuel John Peploe (1871–1935) was a Scottish painter and a leading figure among the group known as the Scottish Colourists. Born in Edinburgh, he studied and worked in Paris between 1910 and 1912, where French modern painting greatly influenced his development. Peploe became renowned for his vibrant use of colour and expressive brushwork, and his paintings are represented in major collections, including the National Galleries of Scotland.
