Born in 1971, Matt Underwood developed a fascination with natural history that inspired him to draw and keep sketchbooks from an early age. He studied art and art history at Salisbury College of Art before completing an HND in wildlife illustration with distinction at Carmarthenshire College of Art. Initially a landscape and still-life painter, he later returned to natural history, creating striking mixed-media and collage works that convey the wonder of the natural world.
