John Northcote Nash (1893–1977) was a British painter, wood engraver, and illustrator best known for his landscapes and still lifes. The younger brother of artist Paul Nash, he avoided formal art training on his brother’s advice. After serving in the First World War, he was appointed an official war artist, a role he resumed in 1940. Nash later taught at the Ruskin School and the Royal College of Art, receiving a major retrospective at the Royal Academy in 1967.
