John Aldridge (1905–1983) was a British painter, designer, and teacher who lived in Great Bardfield from 1932 until his death. An Oxford graduate and largely self-taught artist, he was briefly associated with the avant-garde Seven and Five Society before becoming known for his distinctive landscapes of Essex and his own garden. He worked mainly in oils and co-founded Bardfield Wallpapers with Edward Bawden, whose designs were later produced by Cole & Son.
