While studying Illustration at Leicester Polytechnic, Ian Phillips discovered a book of Hiroshige’s 53 Stages of the Tokaido, which inspired his lifelong passion for relief printmaking. In 2001 he moved to Wales to focus on landscape prints and later undertook a residency at Djumbunji Print Studio in Australia. A founding member of Pine Feroda, he has exhibited internationally and now explores Tabi Hanga, an innovative printmaking process combining Eastern and Western techniques.
